Dear Professor Eugene
Morgan
Thank you for giving me
the opportunity to meet with you about my short research assignment: “ the
British government support for Middle Eastern and Islamic studies since 1947”
As agreed I am enclosing herewith I am enclosing some questions to help me with
my research.
First: The esteemed St.
Antony Centre for Middle Eastern studies established more than fifty years ago
had had relations with the British Government how would you describe these
relations?
Second: Has the Centre
approached the British Government for support to embark on any academic
project? If yes, what these projects and what type of support did the Centre
receive?
Third: What impact did
in your views had the Hayter and Parker’s reports have on the Centre’s
activities and projects.
Fourth: The Centre has
an ambitious agenda in the field of Middle Eastern Studies, was the Centre
involved in any of the new government projects particularly after Islam was
designated a strategic topic?
Fourth: How do you see
the future of the relationship between the Centre and the different
government’s agencies?
Fifth: How do you see
the support of the British government to the field of Middle Eastern and
Islamic Studies in the last ten years?
