Summary of the paper titled"Orientalism and the White House Hawks

"

The 'hawks' or the neo-conservatives are a new trend in American politics. They became very influential with the coming of George Bush.(the son) They advocated the Empire and the American supremacy over the whole World. They found in a faction of Orientalism or Middle Eastern Experts the best intellectual aid in advancing their cause.

This paper dealt with the basic objectives of the white House Hawks and the alliance between them and Orientalists. This paper also deals with the field of Middle Eastern Studies and the developments in this field with the coming of the hawks to the political arena.   

A good example of the Orientalists in the service of the hawks is Professor Bernard Lewis's message, whose message is   "In the Middle East, get tough or get out," reinforced the desire of the Neo-Conservatives to use 9/11 as an opportunity to invade Iraq, to reshape the Middle East and to enforce Western democracy.

There are groups among Middle Eastern experts who are advocating that these studies come under monitoring and scrutinizing to insure that they are in agreement with US interests. This group has put a web site called www.campus-watch.org  to monitor these studies.

The paper concludes with the recommendation that it is necessary to research centers and academic departments to study the west as well as we have to have more effective control on Arabic and Islamic Studies chairs financed by Arab and Muslim countries.
